I have been fortunate to belong to the “Over the Edge Quilters” bee since early 1989. Most of us have been in the group for many years, and the friendships we’ve formed are very special. Once a year we go on a retreat into the Colorado Mountains, and for several years that retreat has been at the YMCA camp near Estes Park. We rent one of two large houses there that has many bedrooms, a large living/dining/kitchen room and a family room that becomes our work space.
This year we were working on a group quilt for one of our members who is currently struggling with serious health issues. All the blocks were laid out and placement decisions made by the group.
Machines were humming all weekend as we worked on our various projects.
In the late afternoon, we took a break for yummy appetizers and a sip of wine. Each person brings their own breakfast. But lunch and supper are assigned and one or two people prepare the meal for all. And we do eat well!!
After a wonderful supper, we break out the domino train game and laugh our way through the evening.
What a great way to spend a long weekend!
