Last week I was in Kansas with my good friend Jan for our annual tomato cooking and canning event. It’s always good to return to my home state and experience the heat and humidity that’s lacking in Colorado. Some may consider that weather uncomfortable, but it’s the climate and soil that grow those lovely tomatoes. Unfortunately this was a bad year for tomatoes and much of our visit was spent on the ‘great tomato hunt’. We did find enough to get our soup and salsa made! Isn’t the colorful salsa beautiful as it’s cooking?
After four long days of work, we had 58 pints of tomato soup and salsa.
Cooking and canning is an art too! And we sneaked in a little quilting too. More about that in a later post.
